Morning all. I listen to both side rail at each other and I think of my children who both graduated from Tech in Lubbock.....and unfortunately brought the liberal life theology back home with them. Why is it most colleges and college towns are so liberal and defy and poke fun at the very values and freedoms that built our great country? I really don' tunderstand.

There have always been haves and have nots. One worked for the other. One paid more taxes than the other. One contributed more to charities and the arts etc. than the other. One more educated than the other. You didn't hate them for it, you aspiried to be better. There have also always been those who wanted to do it the easy way - stick their hand out.

As growing up I was taught life in China was cheap - not worth much - and they drowned their baby girls because SONS were what every one wanted. And that was a bad thing. No, we don't drownd our baby girls here. We're much worse than that. We kill them before they are even born - why? Because we've become so immoral, no morals, and life is of little value. My mother-in-law used to tell me "As go the values of the women, so go the values of the country." I didn't know at the time that what she meant. Now I do........look at all our young people AND the "stars" the immulate - have the kids first and if you have enough of 'em, maybe THEN he will marry you.......Didn't know when I was indulging in pre-marital sex I was tearing down the morals of our country. BUT....I was young Democrat at the time........but time changes everything.

Contrary to what some say today, this country was founded on freedom of religion.........but freedom with a cost and with a strong moral code. The Ten Commandments and scripture are written all over our national buildings. Now suddenly - because we don't want to "offend" - we're suposed to tear down all our national monuments. You're not oing to olike this, but IF you read this book you dislike - the one called The Bible - you would find where Abraham's offspring were made promises 0 including the descendants of two of them.......and America is the offshoot of one........Europe of the other. It's like reading history. Abraham is also the beginning of Islam - when he took a concubine into his bed because his wife could not bear children.......and Ishmael was born of that union - THEN his wife Sara, at 100 years old, became pregnate........and Ishmael and his mother were sent away.............THAT folks was the beginning of the rift between Islam and Christianity.

It continues today......and that is why Islam considers all who do not believe as "infidels" who need to be destroyed. It's also why women of Islam are treated as property with no rights. Ya don't believe me, don't espouse you r lack of knowledge here........research it. Find out for yourself.

The Promise of the Lord to the seed of Abraham is also very specific,,,,,,,,,You may not be a Christian, but for the history of the development of the two opposing religions, it might be smart to learn.

As far as all the other stuff........our moral conservative mindset is what won WWI, WWII...........and what lost Viet Neim was the decline in that same mindset and the creeping in of immoral liberal thinking and the pervasive use of drugs by our young people - young people who we adults, in an attempt to give them more than we had, left them with little or o conscience. Flapping in the wind, believing everything anyone said...........

As the morals of the women go, so goes the country.............as the morals of the Believers go, so go the morals of the country.

Honor Thy Father and Thy Mother..........when honor is lost our country will be lost.

When our President BOWS before another world leader, we need another president. NO world leader should bow before another UNLESS it is a mutal respect, e. g. many of our Asian leaders bow to each other. But for the US President to bow when it is not returned, shows lack of respect for this President...........
For our President to NOT salut, put his hand over his heart, or show any respect for our flag.........shows disrespect for all who have given their lives so you can get on here and lambast and rail against all they held dear.

I'll not be back so rail away........my Dad used to have a aying about that. Wish I, in my decreipt old age (Yesterday was my birthday and most of my life is behind me).......wish I could rememeber it. Something about flapping in the wind.........

Know you don't want it, but may God Bless and Keep you, and may your eyes be opened to see all you should see.

It's interesting that the people who don't want equal rights for all, are quite willing to cast aspersions on those who do. Let's face it: The Republican party has been hijacked by religious zealots with fascist leanings and if they can ever achieve absolute power, people like Lubbock Left and I will be among the first sent to the concentration camps.

BTW, are lesbians actually considered sodomites? Just wondering.

Well, I was born in Lubbock, raised in Lubbock, and I work and hope to raise a family here in Lubbock. And I'm a big ol' liberal -- one of many thousands of liberal Lubbockites, in fact.

So, to answer your question: yes.

See there,...I knew you had a soft side. Everyone gets so wrapped up in these debates that their first reaction is to lash out.
I won't be visiting your web page anymore You have an agenda, and as much as I disagree with it, I respect you. Let me just say this in closing, and whatever way you respond won't hurt my feelings because I'm only relaying the message...
Jesus Christ loves you and died to prove it. From your comments, you seem to think that Christianity comes in different flavors - it doesn't. There's only one, as laid out in God's Word, the Bible. It has the Truth, and we can ignore it at our peril. The good news is that God so loved you and me, that He came to earth as a sinless man to die for our sins, and proved it by being resurrected. We can either disagree with God and refuse to admit our sin, and take the consequences (Hell), or we can agree with God, repent of our sins, receive God's payment for our sins, and reap the rewards (Heaven). The crucifixion of Christ was a legal transaction - God declares all men guilty, worthy of death and has pronounced eternal punishment. Jesus Christ, God's Son, steps up and pays the punishment for those who recognize their need and are willing to receive Him as Savior. For those who keep telling the Judge that they have no sin and they're not guilty, He has no recourse but to allow their punishment. This is no different from a human criminal court. The only difference is that the consequences are eternal. You may laugh, get angry, call me names, and whatever. That's fine - but I love you enough to tell you the Truth - not to try to constrict you in some way, but just like I'd try to warn a blind person who was attempting to walk off a cliff.
We all have choices to make - this was done out of love for you as a brother human being. Take the information and do whatever you please. But, Kenny, I really do pray that you'll seriously think about these things. There is Truth - you don't have it, and I don't have it, but the Bible does. It tells you about God's love. I just hope that you realize that while there may be a lot of different "religions" in the world, there's only one way to God - through Jesus Christ. Have a great day!

You seem to have a bone to pick, and railing at me won't do you any good. It sounds like you've really been hurt - especially by your comments about Christianity. Isn't it amazing how you appear to be all for dialogue, except where it disagrees with your opinion - and that's all you have - your opinion. And since all you have is your opinion, and nothing really sunstantive to back it up, no wonder you're frustrated.
If you want to talk about Christianity, let's do it. But I doubrt very seriously that you'll come up with any real arguments. No, I suspect that you'll just throw you'r little tantrums and tell me why I'm the "hater", and that you hold all knowledge, and that everything I say is a "crapsicle".
Yeah, ...you're one for dialogue, all right! .

So you got the truth, huh? Thanks for dropping by to share it, I guess.

Let's go through that crap you posted, one crapsicle at a time:

"Murder of the pre-born" -- How about a woman's right to her own body? Abortion is never anybody's first choice or an easy one, but it's certainly not your choice to make for someone else.

"Marriage between two consenting sodomites" -- I would love to hear why you think two people who love each other shouldn't get the same legal rights as two different people who love each other.

"Destruction of capitalism" -- Capitalism seems to be doing just fine to me.

"Re-distribution of wealth from the haves to the have nots" -- How about everybody pays their fair share? The Republican Party is all about getting rich people the tax cuts they so richly don't deserve while paying lip service to the idea of helping people who need it.

"Tearing down the reputation of the US around the world" -- I suppose you haven't heard the giant sigh of relief that the world is breathing because Bush is no longer President. Our reputation around the world is being restored by a real leader who understands diplomacy. It's a huge improvement over that cowboy-wannabe we had before.

"Weakening the ability of the US to defend itself from foreign attacks" -- This one is just stupid. You ought to have more confidence in our military, law enforcement, and intelligence than that.

"Gradually removing any semblance of Christianity from the public scene" -- Doubt that, but I think we've hit upon the root of your complaining. Sounds to me like you're upset that your particular brand of Christianity isn't universally believed by all Americans. Well guess what buddy, it ain't ever going to happen. We are a diverse nation (always have been), and no one religion gets to call the shots for everyone. There's room for you in American society just like there's room for everyone else, but you don't get to force your beliefs on others.

I think you need to turn off FOX News and do some serious self examination yourself.

I think you need to turn off FOX News and do some serious self examination yourself.

If you call moral and American values "twisted", you need to do some serious self examination. Is the fact that you consider these "twisted" because you have no moral compass to guide your life other than your own "god" - yourself? Is your conscience so seared that you have no concept of right and wrong, good and evil, truth or error? Sounds like it. Why is it that you think that moral values that have guide people from the beginning of time are twisted, and now all of a sudden you have the "answers" - and everbody else but the ones who think your war is twisted? Your own heart testifies as to what is really right - it's your own pride and arrogance that labels the truth "twisted".
