Only those I don't like and there's plenty of those. Lot of "nutz" in the real world.County workers are currently on my "trash 'em" list. County has virtually "shut down" public records to keep "republican waste" from getting on my blog. Patti Jones now refuses to even reveal agenda items costs. Ysidrio is better at being honest than Patti. Patti is not exactly a "honest county worker".

I'm not a county employee, but yes you did see me in Shallowater because I was working as a troubleshooter in that election.

From what I can tell, you sling mud at everybody.

I allow feedback by email and publish most if not all comments.I publish most everything but will not bother with "rants" or "diatribes". Todd Klein is a "grandstander" and is a "longwinded" democrat with little to offer. He also wants me "not" speaking at city council meetings cause I only pay sales taxes and sales taxes are a bigger portion of city budget than property. Todd Klein also has yet to make his travel expenditures for his city funded "Japan Exchange" trip public that he took earlier this year. I only "sling mud" at others who deserve it and aren't you a county employee? I believe you work for Dorothy Kennedy cause I think I saw you at precinct 46 where the county can't get the machine to work. I'll be at County Coommissioners meeting Tuesday to "sling mud" at County Registrar office as county holds meeting to discuss "mess" Voter Registrar is in. Am I correct that you work for "Big Government" and answer to Dorothy Kennedy? Yes or No?

Clif, you're simply wrong about Todd Klein. He was on the radio all day today talking about technical details of the process among other things. He's the one on the council pushing for the advance zoning/legal work to be done.

And how come you don't allow comments on your own blog? You sling an awful lot of mud without giving anyone a chance to respond.

el ranchero, I believe packaged alcohol sales throughout the city limits will mean higher tax revenue. A lot of casual buyers of beer and wine simply don't bother going to the strip because it's so inconvenient (and expensive!). I also believe that Lubbock voters would overwhelmingly approve packaged alcohol sales if given the chance.

Truly amazing that the city is compelled to remain dry by state law. That is some serious micromanaging there!

I'm not sure exactly how letting people sell packaged alcohol in other county precincts translates to "higher tax revenues," since the city council already voted in 2006 to annex the Strip into the city in 2006 and enact a 1.5% tax. Allowing people to sell elsewhere in the city would have no effect, except perhaps to convince more people to buy. If so, who cares?

It's funny, I never hear any of Rick Perry's taxpayer-funded trips to Italy or the Bahamas derisively referred to as "vacations" or any outcry about the cost to taxpayers whatsoever by so-called "fiscal conservatives." Same with our Republican governor here who's always off "attracting businesses" in China or Europe. I guess it's only fiscally irresponsible when Democrats do it.

I know when I was growing up in Lubbock that the city's dryness was always ascribed to the classic corrupt "bootlegger-Baptist" coalition, except the bootleggers eventually became the owners of the stores on the Strip. Is that true? If so, has enough changed that this move actually stands a chance, or will it be torpedoed by commercials arguing that keeping beer out of town "keeps the bums out"?

Mr.Klein is uneducated about the process. I discussed this with local state legislators weeks ago and it requires a Texas House and Senate majority as well as Governor's signature to get any law changed. Texas legislators prefer petitions to small groups like city councils calling for elections since that keeps elections down to a minimum. The other opposition will be from "Christian do-gooders" in both parties that actually want to bring back "alcohol prohibition". The % of signatures could be lowered but that's a longshot in itself. Mr.Klein is actually a Democrat and his chances of getting the "time of day" In Delwin Jones/Carl Isett/Robert Duncans's(R) offices are slim/none. Mr.Klein is also a "big government" democrat that is looking at "higher tax revenues" to fund more "lavish" programs like the Japan Exchange Program that had Todd Klein on a city paid-for vacation earlier this summer. City has flat out refused to release Mr.Klein's expenses for his 10 day "taxpayer paid for" vacation to Japan.
