I have to admit that I'm not exactly thrilled at the choice of candidates. I meant that the race itself will be exciting, especially since District 4 is the highest turnout district, there is no incumbent Council Member, and there is a heated Mayor's race on top of it all.

This race has an elderly(virtual inexperienced in government operations)newsman,a retired LPD employee's husband and a autoparts dealer(now out of business)and no resume by those three has "stellar candidate" written on it. Paul Beane is so old he may need help "getting up and getting dressed" to get to morning council sessions and Bell and Keisling appear like Beane, totally inexperienced in government operations.Keisling's wife was a career government worker at LPD and Bell is currently mixed up in one of over 40 committees/commissions that has had a history of "pawning" bad ideas off on city council when those commissions/committees are actually front-groups for city bureaucracy. The Planning and Zoning Board(Bell current chair)was instrumental in recommendations like the ill-fated bond issue for buildings as well as other re-zoning "dumb ideas" that forced many businesses to locate in specific, high crime rate areas to help disadvantaged areas of the city. Exciting is NOT the word for these three characters. Mundane,Useless,Incapable and maybe even Incompatent might be more accurate descriptions of these 3. Any candidate getting Phyllis Jones endorsement should prepare to be DEFEATED since Phyllis chose NOT to be soundly voted "out-of-office" after her 4 years of "ordinance tyranny". Lubbock voters in that district may "hold their noses" in a couple of months at the poll.
